Shelters & Rescues

  • Behavioral and handling assessments on the canine population
    • Our behavior expert will come to you and assess any number of dogs within your population for what their behavior is like under a number of normal and stressful situations, as well as what their ability to be handled in these various situations. Ex: how well does this dog handle being hugged (the number 1 reason children are bit by dogs)? Can this dog have their feet picked up, or their ears inspected?
  • Behavior modification protocols
    • Our behavior expert will come to you, assess the dog as well as create a comprehensive behavior modification program for that dog. In some circumstances, one protocol can be used for multiple dogs (such as kennel reactivity protocols).
  • Training for staff and volunteers on how to perform behavior modification protocols
    • Our behavior expert will come and teach a class for your staff and volunteers to learn how to perform basic behavior modification on the dogs deemed necessary so that when our expert isn’t around, you can succeed!
  • Environmental changes and enrichment additions for stress-reduction
    • Sometimes there are very simple changes that can be made to help reduce stressors in the environment for different dogs. Other times, quick and easy enrichment solutions can be found to help reduce the entire shelter or rescue’s stress level for the most sensitive dogs
  • Foster Classes
    • Our behavior expert will come and teach your fosters how to bring a dog home, integrate it into their family, and how to manage extreme issues like fear, separation anxiety, and defensive aggression.
  • Co-operative Care
    • Teach both dogs and their caregivers humane, co-operative care techniques to lower stress levels when medicating and/or grooming (ex: nail trims, ear medications, oral medications, etc.)
  • Consultations on behavioral euthanasia cases
    • Our behavior expert will come and handle the aggressive dog cases to give an honest assessment about whether or not the dog poses a risk to the community at large, potential adopters, fosters, staff, and/or volunteers.

The above services are on a sliding scale for rates, please contact us for more information.
